Six days hiking through Machame route is the most preferred

to M. Kilimanjaro and it covers a 65 km distance to the top, Uhuru peak.

Itinerary

Arriving & Pick up

You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your arranged hotel in Moshi town. After a refreshing rest, a briefing will be conducted by your guide concerning itinerary details. Shortly after, gear will be checked by the guide. IF YOU ARE MISSING THE PROPER GEAR, RENTAL OF THE APROPRIATE GEAR can be done this day.

Overnight: Hotel/Lodge in Moshi Town  

Day 1                   

 Machame Gate to Machame Camp

This day starts with an early breakfast at the hotel. We drive from Moshi to Machame gate where a check in to the park takes place. We start our trek from Machame Gate through a beautiful, dense rainforest. We witness a rich wildlife, birds, Colobus monkeys hanging from the trees but also possible rain, mud and fog. The scenery is breath taking!

Distance : 10.8km / 6.7mi

Overnight : Machame Camp (3000m) 

Day 2                  

 Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Starting early from Machame camp we are heading to Shira Plateau. The vegetation become scarce, the ascent becomes steeper and we have the first view of the mountain peak.

Trekking time : 5 hours

Distance: 5,4km/ 3,4mi

Overnight : Shira Cave Camp(3890m) 

 Day 3               

Shira Cave to Barranco Camp

After a steadily walk on high moorland, the ridgelines of high desert and through the pass of Lava Tower, we reach our today’s destination, the Barranco Camp. Spending enough time at Lava tower altitude (up to 4600m) helps to acclimatize even better thus following the rule “walk high sleep low".

Trekking time: 8 hours

Distance : 10.8km / 6.7m

iOvernight : Baranco Camp(4200m) 

Day 4 

 Barranco Camp to Barafu

Trek starts at the bottom of the Great Barranco where gorgeous views of waterfalls are seen. Trek continues up to the Great Barranco Wall famoulsy known as "Breakfast Wall." It is an exhausting ascent passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers heading towards the Karanga valley. A tough steep trek leads us to Barafu Camp.

Trekking Time : 5 hours

Distance : 5.5km / 3.4mi

Overnight : Barafu Camp(4600m) 

Day 5                

Barafu Camp to UHURU PEAK to High Camp

After six hours of walking steadily towards summit glaciers, we reach the Stela Point (5739m) near the crater rim. The first rays of sun are hitting us on the face. The view is spectacular. Ice cliffs surround this place. After a couple of minutes, you will reach the peak of Kilimanjaro. YOU MADE IT TO UHURU PEAK (5.895m). Take some pictures of the top, then descend to Barafu Camp for lunch and head to High camp for overnight.

Trekking Time : 11hours – 13hours

Distance : 16.4km / 9.6mi

Overnight : Mweka Camp (3100m) 

Day 6                      

Trek High Camp to Mweka Gate

A last trek through rainforest to Mweka Gate, giving farewell to the crew and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Trekking Time : 6 hours

Distance : 9.1km / 7.5miles
