Upon embarking on this adventure, after a 4-hour drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, you'll find yourself on the western slope of Mt Kilimanjaro. The route will lead you to the renowned Shira Plateau, offering an opportunity to traverse through diverse climate zones, from alpine meadows to the realm of eternal ice. The ascent is gradual and provides an exceptional success rate, making the Lemosho route one of the most reliable options on Kilimanjaro.
For your convenience, there are three program durations to choose from: six, seven, and eight days. Opting for the longer programs is advisable, as they allow for superior acclimatization.
The six and seven-day Lemosho programs commence with a high-altitude drop-off, where you will be transported to an elevation of 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) by an off-road vehicle before commencing your hike. This strategic starting point is designed to optimize your acclimatization process, ensuring a smoother adaptation to the higher altitudes you will encounter during your ascent.
Climbing Cost starting from $2014
To reach the trailhead at Nalemuru Gate, it typically takes around 3-4 hours from Brubru Lodge or Aishi Machame Hotel.
What sets the Rongai route apart is that it is the sole route that traverses near Mawenzi, one of Kilimanjaro's three volcanic cones and Africa's third-highest peak. The return journey takes you through Marangu, allowing you to witness both sides of this majestic mountain.
While both six and seven-day itineraries are available for the Kilimanjaro Rongai route, opting for the longer option is strongly recommended for a smoother acclimatization process.
Strategically positioned camps along the trek provide an ideal setting for a gradual and effective acclimatization process. On the third day, the Machame Route intersects with both the Lemosho and Umbwe routes at Barranco camp.
You have the choice of embarking on a six or seven-day climb on the Machame route up Kilimanjaro, with the latter being highly recommended for a more seamless acclimatization transition.
The Marangu route, often referred to as the "Coca-Cola" route, stands as the current frontrunner among the Kilimanjaro route options. What sets it apart is the unique provision of huts for overnight stays, making it an attractive choice for hiking, particularly during the rainy season.
This trail commences at the southeastern base of Mount Kilimanjaro, with the Marangu Gate serving as the entry point. Conveniently, the Marangu Gate is in close proximity to our base at the Aishi Machame Hotel, with the journey there taking approximately 1.5 hours.
The Kilimanjaro "Coca-Cola" route offers a well-marked path that traverses through all climatic zones, from the tropical rainforest to the eternal ice, providing you with breathtaking African landscapes.
As the most popular and cost-effective option, this route may experience crowding during the periods of July-September and December-March.
For optimal acclimatization, we strongly recommend choosing the 6-day option over the 5-day itinerary.
